A transnational cultural history is presented in the times of German nationalism and the early Turkish republic. The architect and town planer Gustav Oelsner was one of many German Jewish academics who found refuge and a new home in Turkey due to the Turkish government under Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and passed on their expertise to Turkish universities. On display are the photos and drawings of Gustav Oelsner’s travels through Turkey, exploring the living and building habits of his host country.
